NEBSA Scholarship Award

The New England Biosafety Association will give an annual award – the NEBSA Scholarship Award—to an individual enrolled as a student in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program in biosafety, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, biology, health sciences, or related field at a college or university.

Each award shall consist of the following:

  • Monetary support of $2000 during one academic year to the recipient for educational expenses, to be paid $1000.00 at the beginning of each semester.
  • Complimentary registration at the NEBSA Symposium and the ABSA International Biosafety and Biosecurity Conference during the year of the award.
  • Nominal monetary support (up to $1000) to reimburse the recipient for expenses to attend these events, to cover travel, lodging, meals, or incidentals.  Receipts will need to be submitted for reimbursement.

 

Timeline

The scholarship application period is from mid March to May 1st every year.  No applications or supporting materials will be accepted after May 1st.   Award recipients will be notified and announced on the NEBSA website by June 15.

 

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
  • Be enrolled as a student in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program in biosafety, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, biology, health sciences, or related field at an accredited college or university.
  • Have a 3.0 undergraduate GPA and (if applicable) a 3.5 graduate GPA.
  • Reside in, or attend school in, one of the six New England states

 

Application Requirements and Procedure

All applications are reviewed by the NEBSA Board.   Applicants are required to complete and submit the online application form, available here: NEBSA Scholarship Application Form.

In addition, applicants must submit:

  • A resume or CV showing their full educational and work experience
  • Transcripts from every university they have attended or, for undergraduate students entering their freshman year, a high school transcript
  • Proof of GPA
  • An academic letter of recommendation

These materials must be emailed to scholarship@ne-bsa.org and must be received by May 1st of the application year.  Questions about the scholarship process may be emailed to the same address.
